Industrial furnace construction in XXL format: Aichelin builds longest muffle
During the scheduled maintenance of a Aichelin SAFED conveyor belt furnace at a long-standing customer site in England, an impressive project was on the agenda: the replacement of the largest and longest gas-tight muffle* that Aichelin has ever manufactured: 20-meter-long muffle.

Length: almost 22 meters
Width: 1,35 meters
IN COMPARISON: The standard length of a SAFED mesh belt furnace is normally a maximum of 7.2 meters.
Custom-made in XXL format
This unique component was produced at the AICHELIN Assembly Center Europe (ACE) in Celje, Slovenia. Thanks to maximum precision and outstanding teamwork, the custom-made product was completed in a production time of just 4 months. It was then delivered to England by special transport.

What is a gas-tight muffle and for which furnace systems is it used?
A gas-tight muffle made of heat-resistant stainless steel is used for heat treatment under a protective gas atmosphere in SAFED mesh belt systems of types T and BD. Due to the internal overpressure, it forms a hermetically sealed space that is limited by a flame curtain or the direct connection to the oil bath (depending on the type). This enables rapid stabilization and modification of the furnace atmosphere within a few minutes.
